Router review: Asus RT-N10
Asus RT-N10 is another great router for starters. This router is being sold below it’s fair price and it is a good bang for your buck. It’s relatively cheap and while this is a budget product, it still contains certain features that are typically found on higher end products.
As with any other Asus router, you’ll need to flash it with the proper DD-WRT firmware first. Flashing process should be straightforward using Asus’ Firmware Restoration Tool. To learn more about flashing, please visit my How to configure a DD-WRT router page.
Asus RT-N10 works great with both PPTP and L2TP protocol. And if you’re lucky — depending on the hardware revision of the router, there could be even openVPN flash image available. Which is great, but don’t expect too much because the router has only 4 megabytes available for flash image and it’s missing some important features (e.g logging and debugging).
In order to set up PPTP connection, you will need to follow this guide:

openVPN manual can be found here:
There are much better routers out there but it’s a great device for the price. I was using it for a couple of months and it worked quite stable. It has basic openVPN support which makes it a bit better than previously reviewed VPN router D-Link DIR300. If you’re a starter and don’t want to spend too much, go ahead and buy it.
With all VPN protocols that HideMyAss has to offer, you will be able to easily connect multiple devices, such as PC, iPod, Boxee Box… and stream movies while abroad.
Our final verdict — Asus RT-N10 deserves 3.6 stars out of 5.
