Is it possible to watch Vudu outside the US?
Vudu is a popular service for full-length movies distribution over the Internet to television in the United States of America. It does this with a content delivery network that uses a hybrid peer-to-peer TV technology.
Vudu is available on various devices: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Roku, iPad, Android devices… to name just a few. But as many other video streaming services, such as Hulu and Netflix, Vudu is also available from within US only. Which means that if someone who is overseas logs on and tries to watch one of the shows, they will get a message saying that it can’t be seen in that area.
Depending on what device you use to play the movies from Vudu, the solution will be slightly different. But in any case it is possible and you’ll have to use any IP cloaking service.
Yes, it’s possible.
My favourite IP cloaking service, in fact, is the VPN (Learn more about the service here). It’s fast, reliable and works every time like a charm. It may sound techie, but it’s rather simple. If you stream Vudu movies on your PC, just install the VPN app which you can download here, minimize it and refresh the browser (load www.vudu.com again). That’s it.
Wow, that was easy!
If you use a dedicated device, e.g. a Roku box or a PlayStation 3, then you’ll have to install the VPN directly on your router. We’ve covered that topic before.
The best VPN service for Vudu
Over the years I tested many VPN services (StrongVPN, Cactus VPN, Panda VPN…) but I can only recommend the HideMyAss VPN service (you can read my full review if you click here).
They offer a 30 day money back guarantee, and packages starting at $6,5 per month (when buying a few months upfront).
If you have additional tips on how to watch Vudu from abroad, feel free to post them in the comments section below. I’m eager to answer any question you might have.
